SCBWI co-founder Lin Oliver delivers opening remarks. |
As Lin Oliver welcomed us to this 41st annual conference, she shared some great statistics:
- There are 1,234 attendees from around the world.
- People have come from as far as Egypt and Ukraine.
- But no one from either of the Dakotas made it.
As is our tradition, the faculty introduced themselves with a single word. Sonya Sones, who writes YA novels in verse, was really naughty. Her word was
penis [redacted]. She did make a quick getaway in her fantastic Converse sneakers.
You can feel the excitement in the room--and here we go with Arthur Levine!
