The Illustration Mentorship Award is given at the Annual Summer Conference in Los Angeles. The goal is to identify, develop and nurture publishable illustrators. The winners are chosen by a separate panel of judges from the Portfolio Award, including SCBWI Board members.
-Six illustrators from the portfolio showcase are chosen as a Mentee for advanced level critique and mentoring.
-Mentees meet with each Board Illustrator Committee Mentor for a 15-minute one-on-one session to discuss their work, ask questions, get suggestions, and be challenged to take their work to the next level.
-Mentors and Mentees meet as a group to share information, tips, and create career development strategies.
