The SCBWI puts a call out to undergraduate and graduate schools across the country every year to find the most talented student writers and illustrators they can find.
This year the writer's scholarship went to Mercer Black, a graduate student at Vermont College of Fine Arts
Oscar Vargas from Hunter College in New York won the undergraduate scholarship.
The Student Illustrator Scholarships go to two full-time illustration students. Competition is steep.
This year, Margo Huang and Aura Lewis received scholarships to the conference and intensives.
