Photos From the Red Carpet Ball!

Glamour! Fun! Kid Lit Creativity! The Red Carpet Ball had it all…

Allow me to be your Red Carpet blog host...

Fringe!
Front and Back, some artistic carpets!

Now THAT'S a hat!
Glamour and a great message
Storybook realness

Maurice Sendak realness (with their own security force!)
Watch out! It's the Fashion Police - and they were writing people up!  (I got a 'fine," which seemed like a nice compliment…)
And then they were off!
And the dance floor was hopping all night long…

Stars...

Whooping it up!

And there! On the Dance Floor… Lin and Steve having a ball at the ball!
What an evening - Thank you, and good night!

The Black and White Gala... In Pictures That Move Really Fast!

SCBWI's Director of Outreach Chelsea Mooser's husband Nick put together this amazing VINE video:

Thanks Nick!

And thanks to everyone who dressed up, boogied on down and gathered together to celebrate our wonderful world of children's literature!

Two Black and White Gala Costumes That Deserve A Special SCBWI Conference Blog Shout Out

Check out this dress by illustrator Amber Alvarez.  She did the black and white art, had it printed onto fabric, and made the dress.  Yup.  Made the dress herself.

And (right to left) Claudia Pearson, Jo Kittinger and Heather Montgomery's remarkable Rejection Letter outfits were funny and poignant.  (Remember, they're not rejecting YOU, they're just rejecting the submission.)

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly rejection letters...

So much creativity on display!

Have good photos of other great outfits?  Leave a link in comments!
