Details for the 2010 SCBWI International Winter Conference
Preliminary details for the 2010 SCBWI International Winter Conference in NYC have just been posted at SCBWI.org! Click here for a print-friendly brochure and all of the info you'll need to start planning!
I've been waiting months for the scheduling to be made available and I'm so disappointed. You only get three workshops unless you pay $225 for the extra day's intensive? There are only ten workshops to choose from. I was expecting something similar to the summer conference.
Was really looking forward to the conference...but am so disappointed now. Last week, SCBWI says I can attend the Saturday sessions. Now it says there's a good chance the single day attendance won't be offered! Do I have to pay full price just to attend a single day!?
First, I have a hotel room to share. I posted on forum, but not getting response. I am nonsmoking nonpartying realatively new member first time conference over 50 so I cna be quiet but not a bore.
Second, I am very upset that the agent/editor does not have time to read the 500-word submission (one and one half pages) before the conference. Reading aloud is a different process as is reading aloud in a group of critiquers. I do not mind critiques, but my understanding is that first pages get you editors and agents. And, how come illustrators, who can be seen anywhere, anytime, on any website, get scene and us writers have less chance. Perhaps you should a gallery of giant 500-wd manuscripts?
Hmm. Something to consider.

ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out how to register for the conference but the registration doesn't seem up and running yet.
ReplyDeleteThe amount stated for the hotel room - is that for just Saturday night, or does that include Friday night as well?
